Daily Drawing No. 1
My 365 Project Rules
For any 365 project to be successful and sustainable, some constraints are necessary. In the case of a daily drawing (at least for me), constraints prevent the deer-in-the-headlights phenomenon: staring at a blank paper/screen, getting stuck. So my rules are:
I can spend up to three hours, but no more, on a given drawing. I’m so grateful to even have this amount of time available for creating work, but I also know I’ll tinker around with a drawing for days if you let me.
I have to post every Daily Drawing to this blog before midnight that day, even if I don’t like it. I don’t have to put in the shop, but I do have to share it.
Each drawing will be in a square format, no matter the subject matter. This is another way to limit the decisions I have to make.
I’m excited to see where this goes, and so grateful for the opportunity to share.
*Edit November 24, 2024. When am I going to learn to stop putting so many rules and constraints on myself? The answer is, today. Starting tomorrow, I’ll return to a drawing or sketch daily, but it’ll be in whatever medium suits the work, in whatever size and dimension feels right, and I’ll only post it if I truly like the results. Those results will go on my news feed at Art Majeur. Fully developed pieces will also land in my Print Shop.
That feels so much better!
As always, thank you truly for being here.
